Why should You Go for Google docs instead of MS Word?

Whether you’re teaming up with co-workers on a big project or you need to collaborate with friends and family, Google docs is a great choice.

Google docs provides unlimited storage and collaborative editing, so everyone can work at their own pace. Plus, there’s no need to worry about file size. Your documents automatically save every time you close your browser tab. This ensures that you always have your latest work at your fingertips when you want it.

Google docs comes with an extensive list of collaboration tools, including checklists, mind maps, and smart formatting tools. You won’t need to waste time trying to figure out how to format large documents.

If you’ve got a group project or an important meeting coming up, it’s easy to create a new document or open an existing one in Google docs. And the best part is you can work on the same document from any computer in the world!

But, despite all the great features, there’s one question that still needs to be answered. Why should you stop using MS Word and shift to Google docs for good? I’ll try to provide you with enough reasons why you should break the inertia and go for Google docs.

The only people MS Word is good for are seasoned Word vets. This is because their years of training have enabled them to use MS Office without a problem. For a novice or newbie, using Word can be quite a pain-in-the-ass. There are tons of options whenever you click a specific button on the toolbar. Each option you select leads you to a bunch of categories. It’s a very confusing way of arranging functionality.

Google docs wins the race when it comes to user-friendliness. You do not have to deal with a mess. The toolbar is simply arranged. The design is minimalistic.

Saving your files

Google saves the day when it comes to autosaving your files. Have you experienced the nightmare of ruining your work in MS Word when the power went out or you accidentally hit the close-program button? If you use Google docs, this never happens.

Google docs saves your files to cloud storage, so you don’t need to worry about your work even if your hard drive malfunctions. On the other hand, in MS Word, you’ve to press Ctrl + S every time you want to save your work. It becomes quite difficult and you easily lose your focus from the work you’re doing.

Third-party apps

Google docs comes up with a lot of third-party add-ons and Google Chrome extensions. It’s a winner when it comes to third-party enhanced functionality. These add-ons integrate with Google docs so well that it looks natural. While MS Word has its own web store with dozens of add-ins, they’re no better than those that come with Google docs.

Better mobile candidate

Mobile app development is Google’s business and Microsoft isn’t even close to it. MS Word is largely confined to the desktop. They indeed have their mobile apps but they don’t provide good functionality when it comes to mobile.

From the account above, it’s evident that Google docs is far better than MS Word. Google docs has kept evolving into something better. On the other hand, MS Word remained static and has become stagnant. This is what you become if you don’t evolve.
