Disqus For WordPress

Published: Friday, January 24, 2020

A friend of mine asked what blog comment system would be good for WordPress. 2 came to mind. Facebook comments and Disqus. Personally I like Disqus for the ease of installation. It’s as easy as copy-and-paste. If you cant wrap your head around it, they help by providing a pre-built plugin and guidance in implementing it.

Get started with Disqus by clicking here. If you can afford to pay, I would recommend doing so, but if you are short on cash, they have you covered with their basic plan.

Use the WordPress plugin if you are not a developer. Otherwise, below is a short tutorial on how to insert their Universal Code.

To use their plugin, go to Settings > Installation > WordPress and follow their instructions.

How To Insert Disqus Universal Code

WordPress themes usually have commentary support. You can see this in the theme’s single.php usually with the code below.

if ( comments_open() || get_comments_number() ) {
comments_template();
}

Usually, I would say it is safe to replace the entire contents or comments.php with Disqus’s universal code.

Once done, please also be sure you have allowed comments in your site and posts settings.
